Burney Mountain 100 June 20th,21st 2025
We are so excited for the second Great Shasta Rail trail run! This is a relatively flat course with very nice footing. All distances are out and back. Starting in McCloud with views of Mt Shasta. Great course for a first go at the distance, or to set a new PR. It is pretty straight forward...literally. Beautiful crisp mountain air surrounded by incredible views. All runners will get a shirt and a after race meal. All finishers will get a finisher medal!
This run benefits the Great Shasta rail trail. It is a beautiful scenic route. We would like to help preserve the rail trail for continued use, and keep its rich history alive. Burney Falls, Lasson Nation Park, Subway cave, destination fly fishing, and so much more!

The 100 mile, 48 hr, 24 hr, and 12-hour endurance run/walk/crawl is in Lassen National Forest and features a looped 5 isg mile course, providing a challenging and scenic environment for runners. The course takes runners through the natural beauty of the forest, showcasing its lush greenery, and gorgeous fall colors, diverse wildlife, and breathtaking landscapes. With each lap, runners will experience the varied terrain, including rolling hills, wooded areas, Baum lake, a view of Burney Mountain on a clear day and a beautiful starry sky at night. The course consists of forest rd, and single track trail. The looped course design allows participants to gauge their progress and a convenient fully stocked aid station/ start finish placed along the route for rest, hydration, and fueling. A party on the trail! Overall, it promises to be an exhilarating and demanding race amidst the stunning backdrop of Lassen National Forest.

Burney Basin Days 10k, 5k and Burro race
Join Us for the Burney Basin Trail Run!
Experience part of the Historic Great Shasta Rail Trail and a scenic forest road through the breathtaking Burney Basin. All distances start together at the same location: Coordinates 40.92845, -121.64423.
• 5K runners will turn right before the 10K split.
• 10K runners will enjoy an extended route through this stunning landscape.
• Burro racers will start at the same time as the runners, adding an exciting twist to the event!
We’re thrilled to bring this unique run to the Burney Basin Day festivities! After the race, explore the town and stick around for the craft fair, parade, and fireworks the next day.

A Journey Through Lassen National Forest and the Thousand Lakes Wilderness
Experience Northern California’s most scenic 100-mile race, where breathtaking views, diverse terrain, and awe-inspiring vistas await at every turn. Starting and finishing at the Burney Mountain Guest Ranch, this looped course takes runners through some of the most pristine wilderness areas in the region, including the stunning Burney Basin and the rugged Thousand Lakes Wilderness.
The race climbs and descends a cumulative 15,000 feet of elevation, providing an exhilarating challenge for ultrarunners. From the peaks of Burney Mountain, you’ll be treated to panoramic views of Mount Lassen and Mount Shasta, as well as the Hat Creek Rim and vast lava flows stretching below.
The early start time allows runners to fully absorb the beauty of the area at dawn, when the mountains, forests, and lakes are bathed in soft morning light. The varied terrain—ranging from rocky ridgelines to lush forest floor—provides an ever-changing backdrop as you tackle the rugged landscape.
This 100-mile race isn't just a test of endurance, but also a celebration of the incredible natural beauty of Northern California.
