Burney Mountain 100

The Burney Mountain 100-Mile Endurance Run A Journey Through Lassen National Forest and the Thousand Lakes Wilderness

Experience Northern California’s most scenic 100-mile race, where breathtaking views, diverse terrain, and awe-inspiring vistas await at every turn. Starting and finishing at the Burney Mountain Guest Ranch, this looped course takes runners through some of the most pristine wilderness areas in the region, including the stunning Burney Basin and the rugged Thousand Lakes Wilderness.

The race climbs and descends a cumulative 15,000 feet of elevation, providing an exhilarating challenge for ultrarunners. From the peaks of Burney Mountain, you’ll be treated to panoramic views of Mount Lassen and Mount Shasta, as well as the Hat Creek Rim and vast lava flows stretching below.

Burney Mountain 100 offers an exciting and challenging course with generous cut-off times.  There are hard cut-offs at the Cypress Trail Head (17hrs) and runners have 38-hours to finish.

The early start time allows runners to fully absorb the beauty of the area at dawn, when the mountains, forests, and lakes are bathed in soft morning light. The varied terrain—ranging from rocky ridgelines to lush forest floor—provides an ever-changing backdrop as you tackle the rugged landscape.

This 100-mile race isn't just a test of endurance, but also a celebration of the incredible natural beauty of Northern California. Whether you’re running through dense forests or above the tree line, each mile will take you deeper into the heart of one of the most awe-inspiring landscapes in the country.
